A LOST STUDENT ENGINEER

“Without clear lines of communication, our ideas would stay within our own small development teams instead of becoming mature products. While this is obvious to those of us who have become experienced engineers, the real question is: Why is it lost to us when we are engineering students?” Dr. Akbar R Khan, Software Systems Engineer, USA, “Good Communication Is Essential…” (2014)

What this quote is trying to say is that for an engineering student, ideas are not being spontaneously shared around.  I would say one easy explanation as to why engineering students do not share our ideas easily is due to the fear of being judged. This constant fear of being wrong has been instilled in our minds ever since we entered this huge education system. However, when we become experienced engineers, every idea that is being shared comes with the knowledge and experiences we have in the industry as a back-up. Thus, we are more open to sharing our ideas.
