ARTICLE SUMMARY DRAFT #1 : ELECTRIC VEHICLES IN SINGAPORE
In the article “Electric vehicles will take over Singapore. But here’s what must happen first” , Sanjay (2020) discussed how Singapore faces challenges to make the switch to electric vehicles in Singapore due to its limitations.
Singapore aims to follow the other 20 plus cities in the world in electrifying their private and public transport system to respond to the global warming crisis. Singapore sets a goal of eliminating all internal combustion engine vehicles by 2040 as part of the sustainability plan to reduce carbon footprints and road congestion in Singapore. However, Singapore must first ensure that there are sufficient charging amenities that are easily accessible and also benefits for Singaporeans to entice them to make the jump.
Predominantly, Sanjay (2020) states that in order to have a successful changeover, strategic location planning of the car chargers , having new business models and also upgrading the customer’s experience would be crucial.
